Yahoo Hacked

At the end of 2016 it was revealed that Yahoo was hacked…

Yahoo suffered, what was probably the biggest data breach in history, with 1 billion accounts compromised.

This all happened in 2013 yet only just released for public information – Lets not forget the breach in 2014 of 500 million user accounts.

On 14th December 2016 yahoo posted this announcement to all.

Yahoo said that (in August 2013) it had discovered a major cyber attack, data from more than 1 billion user accounts was compromised , making it the largest breach of it’s kind in history.

This was double the amount implicated in the 2014 breach, blaming hackers working on behalf of a government.

Yahoo stated on it’s own website that there was:-

“An unauthorised party”

who broke into the accounts.

Yahoo believes the hacks are connected and that the breaches are:-

“state-sponsored”

Senators had made it be known that Yahoo’s delay in revealing the breach of 500 million accounts:-

‘unacceptable’

So, anyone with yahoo accounts, change your passwords and security questions etc, even if you were not affected, why take the risk ;o)
