Google says keywords in the TLD part of your URL are…
Basically ignored for ranking purposes!
Ok, another myth here is that if you buy a Top Level Domain extension (TLD) your Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) will benefit.
A Top Level Domain extension (TLD) is like .com & .co.uk, except what I’m talking about here is the new variations which have come on the market recently such as .florist & .lawyer.
Let me stop you right there and tell you that myth is incorrect.
Infact, why take my word for it when Google have stated as such.
John Mueller, from Google, has confirmed that keyword rich TLD’s do not count for ranking purposes. John Mueller also said that Google completely ignores it for ranking purposes.
“The TLD is not something we take into account”
Basically saying that Google completely ignores the words or keywords in the TLD part of the URL.
There you go, I have saved you some money.
Don’t thank me, thank Google :o)
